Championship Football Games and How We Spent Our Holidays

At WGECC, the ‘Georgia” in our name automatically invests our interest in the National Championship! We posted a picture on our Facebook page showing Dr. Crumpton, glaucoma specialist, sporting his colors for the University of Georgia.  As a border town; however, we also have many staff whose loyalties reside on the Alabama side of the river!  Our retinal specialist, Dr. Mayfield, even has an exam lane devoted to The University of Alabama.  So, in order to remain neutral, our blog position will be that both teams represented the SEC with distinction!

Football is ‘a big deal in our neck of the woods’, and for some southerners the College National Championship game is the culmination of the holiday season. We wrote earlier about the WGECC staff Christmas party at the start of the holiday season, and our celebrations continued with a team-building gingerbread decorating contest, an ornament exchange party, a cookie-swap, and finally: a Championship Game tailgate party! As we think about it, our patients often comment to us that the friendliness of our staff makes us stand-out, and maybe we are friendly because we have close friendships among our co-workers and enjoy one-another’s company.  We are glad to know that our comradery is evident to the patients we serve!

As friends, we also enjoy sharing in the celebrations of our lives with our coworkers, and we thought that you, our valued patients and friends, might like to share too! Teresa Stewart (contact lens specialist) and Jeffrey Stewart (special testing technician) received some very special news on Christmas: their daughter, Amanda Dunn, is expecting twins!  We pray for a healthy and easy pregnancy and are excited to share the journey with them.  The Stewarts have been serving WGECC patients for a combined number of nearly 40 years, and they are family.

We hope that we can consider our patients as part of our close-knit group as well, for you are the reason that we strive to provide great eye care! The goal of our blog is to educate and grow our connection to our patients; and as we begin our fourth year of blogging we are excited to feature more staff news over this next month to help you connect to the people whose goal it is to provide you with the best eye care experience!
