Happy 4th of July…

July 4th is only a few days away and West Georgia Eye Care Center wishes you the happiest and safest of Independence Days! How are you planning on celebrating? If your plans include fireworks, make certain the plans are to enjoy a professional display and stay away from consumer fireworks (the off-the-shelf type that you can buy for yourself). There is no such thing as safe consumer fireworks and below are some links to the experts who know!

Good Reminder…

Americans spend hundreds of millions of dollars annually on consumer fireworks, which cause more than 9,000 injuries a year. With the Fourth of July holiday just a few days away it is a good time to remind children and those in charge that fireworks are not toys. They are incendiary devices that can cause devastating eye injuries. The American Academy of Ophthalmology has prepared a short animated video to remind kids that fireworks may look like toys, but are really dangerous and potentially blinding devices. Not Toys…

“Fireworks may be advertised like toys. You may think you know how to handle them safely. But fireworks injure thousands of Americans every year. Playing with fireworks can blind you or your loved ones. Leave fireworks to the professionals this year.”
